Licensing cost if BI 7.0 extracts data frm other systems via flat-file load

Hi all,

I would know to ask if there is a licensing cost involved if BI is extracting data from a non-SAP source system via flat file load.

Would there be licensing cost if:

Q1. If Open Hub is used to export BI data to other non-SAP source systems systematically OR

Q2. Use DBConnect to extract data from non-SAP source system.

"Assuming SAP BI only extracts SAP data and all extraction programs in the SAP source system are standard business content extractors."

I can understand if licensing cost does exist in Q1 because SAP customer exporting SAP data to non-SAP system rather than using SAP BI system, as you know BI uses SAP extractor program and they cost SAP to build, etc.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi Joe,

Your assumption is correct.

For flat file uploads / extraction from a non-SAP system, there are no SAP license fees required

Q1. If Open Hub is used to export BI data to other non-SAP source systems systematically OR

==> you have to pay license fees. For details, please get in touch with your SAP Account Executive

Q2. Use DBConnect to extract data from non-SAP source system.

==> no license fee required.

Cheers
