Globally Activating authorization object

Can someone explain me how to activate an authorization object globally, please?

Hi RK,

what do you mean?

After you have created and saved the object, it is available for your further use.

(means, add the authority-check in coding, set su24,...).

Hi Bernhard,

We would like to restrict FI postings at profit center level.

We are at ECC6.0 now.

As per SAP standards there is no such functionality.

As per SAP suggestion we have applied EHP3 and we have activated the respective node in SPRO.

But still the restriction is not happening for some tcodes.

thats the reason I am searching for an option which we have in SU25 for globally deactivating authorization object.

I would like to know the way of activating the check for authorization object K_PCA, globally.

Can you please help me in this regard.

Hi,

no, there is no such function available.

I found the following information:

The authorization object for profit center is K_PCA.

It is called for all reports based on NewGL totals table (FAGLFLEXT)as

well as the line item reporting (transaction FAGLL03).

In case you also need an authority check for document display

(transaction FB03) you can use BADI FI_AUTHORITY_ITEM

The authority object K_PCA is not called for posting transactions.

In case you want to do checks for profitcenter authorization

for posting transactions please use FI validation.

Before it "goes"... perhaps the term "Globally Activate" is misleading because of the ability to "Globally Deactivate".

Some checks on this object are "Locally Deactivated" for transaction contexts.

You could move all the check indicators in SU24 from "No Check" to "Check" to that it is "Locally not-Deactivated Everywhere"... but if the check is not in the coding somewhere, then the coding is not globally available either (only mostly locally

As Bernhard has alluded to, this is available in the New GL (though activating this is no trivial matter!). The auth concept in the New GL is also "interesting" as there are a few places where it needs to catch up (Report Painter is one example......)
