Hi Experts,
I am trying to model following scenario & not able to find the way to model this.
Product A can be produced only for 1 week in a month using resource A001. The production dates are not known in advance & system will come out with optimum production dates based on orders priorities (more demand is generally available than what the resource can produce in 1 week).
I want to know whether it is possible to indicate to the system that the resource is available only for 1 week in a month ? if I use calendar resource, then I will have to specify the exact dates when the resource will be available which is not possible in the case mentioned above.
Thanks in advance
Sandeep
Hi Sandeep,
you can define it by Quantity/Rate Definition in resource :
Go to /SAPAPO/RES01 on the main screen in the menu click on defination.
than go to Quantity/Rate tab and define a profile than assing this profile in capacity variant for the resource.
Name of Quantity/Rate Definition
Defines the capacity of the resource using quantities or rates.
For the quantities, you can alternatively:
o Refer to a particular number of days thereby, for example,
describing the usage production or usage rate for the resource
o Enter without time reference thereby, for example, describing the
transport or storage capacity for the resource.
Use
You use a quantity/rate definition to define the quantity capacity or
rate in the time intervals for the capacity variants.
To do this, you enter time intervals in a capacity variant and assign
each time interval a quantity/rate definition.

Hi Sandeep,
I would like to know which planning tool are you using (SNP Heuristics, Optimizer etc.) and at what Periodicity are you planning(days, week or month).

Hi Sandeep,
The following are the steps required:
1. Define a minimum and maximum lot size (PPM) both equal to a week's capacity.
2. In the resource enable cross bucket planning.
3. In the Optimizer Profile also you have to check Cross bucket planning.
4. Define somewhat higher storage cost at the manufacturing location (keeping all other relative costs in mind).
5. Don't define any Non-working days in the calender assigned to the plant.
With the mentioned steps the system behaviour will be:
If the demand will be less than the defined min. lot size. the system will not propose any order till the time demand is more than the defined Lot size considering near future demand as well. This way you will get an order for a week without defining any resource calender and even the schedule will be optimally suggested (based on other costs defined)...
Hope this will be usefull...
Regards,
Manjit
