Hi Haroon

You define which SAP Systems in your system landscape form a transport domain, and which SAP System is to be the transport domain controller.Domain controller is the system in which you can make changes to your STMS configuration.You can not make changes in other systems in the domain.

Yes you can have production as domain controller but considering security and performance it is not good to have production as the same.You can make quality as your domain controller.

Domain controller which will help you to maintain your transport management system in our system landscape ( Transport domain )

why production server can't be domain controller ?

Actually you can maintain production system as your domain controller, but since production system as its own load, being a domain controller will be an additional burden on the same.

Hence architects choose either development system or quality to be a domain controller.
