Maximum Length of a record written to application server

Hi,

Can someone tell me what is the maximum length of a record that can be written to a file in the application server (Transaction al11).

I tried using the LENGTH option in TRANSFER, but it still seems to be writting only upto 256 characters and the rest are not there. I tried downloading the written file from the app server to local pc using the transaction cg3y, but still I can only see till 256 characters in the downloaded local file.

I need to write a more lengthy record in a file in the application server. Could anyone help me, how can I do that?

I dont think there is any limitation. When using cg3y you have to use BIN mode for transfer, Did you use that?
