I am being told I need to restore from back up and that I have no other options.
Alot of work has been done since last backup (my fault).
Does anyone have suggestion, or is it true I have to restore from backup?

The best solution is to Restore. Otherwise the transaction is going to hang in there.
What trans was it?

One PO and several Production orders.
Absolutely use the BackUp.

Please make note of the changes you made on this database before you overwrite / delete.
It would be good to back this DB before you RESTORE BACKUP !!
Some of the changes would be copied, depending on what you changed
