Mass Import within ChaRM?

Former Member

Hi!

We use currently TMS without ChaRM with transport strategy "mass import" and an automatic transport "IMPORT ALL". All the transports will be transported from DEV to QAS system every 20 minutes.

Now we would like to implement ChaRM.

As we know ChaRM uses single import transport strategy with "IMPORT_SINGLE".

Do we have any possibilities to integrate our automatic transport into ChaRM approach or to use it in parallel?

Thank you very much!

Hello

it is possible:

-use (multiple) ChaRM projects with "import single" and "import project" (standard ChaRM functionality)

-create a dummy project in your development system. Assign this project to all your "normal" (without ChaRM) transport requests and start an "import dummy project" job. This one replaces your "import all"

Hi!

We have a lot of transport routes (e.g. standard transport route Z<SID>, SAP transport route, ZDE1-ZDE5).

So would like to keep all the transport routes for the "non-ChaRM" transports.

Do you know which one does use the ChaRM?

Is it e.g. possible to choose the transport routes involving for ChaRM? Or can we add 2 new transport routes that we use for ChaRM?

Thank you very much!

Hi

ChaRM requires client specific transport routes and always uses the standard transport layer per client. Per client you have to specify this transport layer in TMS configuration.

Depending on your TMS configuration it is also possible to use further transport layers. But not all configurations are compatible with ChaRM. If the ChaRM check in project configuration returns no error, everything is fine...

Hi Andreas,

thank you very much!

Something to clarify:

There are one transport layer (e.g. ZDEV) and e.g. two transport routes:

a) transport route "SAP" (for transport of SAP objects)

b) transport route ZDEV for customizing.

The problem is, we use already both transport routes for non-ChaRM transports and it is not possible to use the same transport routes for non-ChaRM and for ChaRM in parallel.

Which suggestions can you give for usage of non-ChaRM and ChaRM transport in parallel?

Thank you!

Hi

I think this is no problem, e.g.:

Dev-System with transport layer ZDEV (e.g. assigned to client 100)

Two transport routes from Dev system to Q-system: one for ZDEV 100 and one for SAP (e.g. client 000)

You can use this for ChaRM and NON-ChaRM transports in parallel

Hi!

Thank you very much again.

The problem is we would like to use non-ChaRM and ChaRM transports simultaneously in same DEV client (e.g. 100). The same applies for QAS system (e.g. client 200).

We would like to integrate other transport routes into ChaRM.

Do you think we have possibility to integrate this.

Please have a look into our system landscape [SAP system landscape |http://www.file-upload.net/view-1086963/SDN_TMS_Ist_Soll.jpg.html].

Please help to clarify....

I awarded you point...

Hi

I'm sorry, but this is to complex to answer without to take a closer look to the system and the TMS configuration.

Afterwards it is neccessary to test this szenario at a test landscape to be sure what works and what not. I can't tell you this from memory in 3 minutes...
