Hi All,

Please give me some lead into Variant configuration. I am a total newbie. Please explain the concept to me with code samples.

Hi

Variant configuration is for manufacturing complex products. The manufacturer is always having to offer new variants of its products. Often, new variants are created by modifying existing product designs as you process the order. The important thing is to react quickly to customers' requirements.

The customer determines the features of the product. A customer buying a car, for example, can choose the features of the car and combine these features as required.

The product configurator improves information exchange between sales, engineering, and production. Variant configuration helps the customer or salesperson to put together specifications for the product and ensure that the product can be produced from these specifications. It also ensures that production costs do not overstep the mark.

Variant configuration is integrated in the following applications:

CA Classification

LO Material Master

PP Bill of Material

PP Routings

PPu2013PI Master Recipes

SD Sales

SD Conditions

MM Purchasing

CO Costing

PP Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

PP Production Orders

You can configure the following objects:

Materials

Standard networks in the Project System.

PM General maintenance task lists

Model service specifications

Hi

Create material with material type KMAT as shown below.

Create the material by above given fields and save the material

Then enter T.Code CT04 we give below screen

Then click on enter

It will show above screen like do want to create the characteristic. Then click on Yes. It will show the below screen.

In these screen we have to fill the following fields like DESC, DATATYPE, NUMBERCHAR etc. Then click on Values tab.

In these screen fill char. values like color its as our will and wish.

Then save the document.

Then click on the T.Code CT04 u will find below screen in these fill the field like BMWCARPRICE.

In these we can fill differently like ZPRICE.

Then click on enter and click on ADDITIONAL DATA

In these fill the fields like TABLE NAME and FIELD NAME what I have shown above.

And click enter it shows the below screen.

In these u can find all the fields filled automatically.

Save the document.

T.code CL01 to create the class in these fields as shown below.

Click on enter.

Then fill basic data screen and save the document.

Type T.Code CT04 enter the characteristic BMWCAR and click on the values tab in it select the BMWGREEN.

In these now select the BMWGREEN then go to the Extras in that select the OBJECT DEPENDENCIES in that we can observe EDITOR.

In these screen u will find the dependency type in that trigger the PROCEDURE click It.

Click on enter.

In these u will find the programming part in that mention below programme.

Save the document.

Same process for the second one also what we did in previous

Save the document.

Then continue with the same screen now select the BMWSGREEN and click on the EXTRAS in that select the OBJECT DEPENDDENCIES and select the ASSIGNMENTS.

We find the above screen in that dep number is automatically will popup

Save the document.

The process is same for the second one also.

Save the document.

Then enter the T.CODE CL02

Then click on the tab CHARACTERSTIC and enter the characters as given below.

Save the document.

Enter T.Code CU41

Click on enter

In these enter required fields as shown below.

Now select the material click on the CLASS ASSIGNMENTS

In these screen enter the class what we created in previously like CAR1

Click on enter.

Double click on the BMWCAR then u will find the below screen trigger it what I shown below then enter.

Then u can find like below screen.

Saves the document.

Type T.code VK11 enter condition type VA00 to give condition record.

In these enter the required fields as shown below.

Save the document.

Enter T.CODE VA01

Click on the enter.

By clicking enter we fill find the below screen

Double on the BMWCAR.

By double clicking on it will find the pop-up box now we can select the colour based upon the requirement.

Come back.

Now we can check the OUTPUT in the Item level at the Conditions.

Thank you for your valuable response. I think you tried to insert screenshots which could not be attached. Please mention the paths arrow separated like go to - > attirbutes etc.
