Hi SAP Expert,
Does anyone know, is there a tool or functions in SAP Portal 7.0 that do notification email connectivity testing to the SMTP server.
We just added the configuration in Sys Admin > UME Config > Notifications E-Mail, but haven't seen any mail coming from Portal. We have asked the EMail System admin to check on their side, but one would have thought SAP will think of putting a connectivity test button next to the config screen.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for putting in all those suggestion, I never get a chance to respond this thread until now.
We finally resolved the issue, interestingly it turns out to be the virus software that is trapping the Portal notifications.

Hi Jim,
Do check your Configuration for Channels. See below.
To check/configure the e-mail communication channel, you specify a mail server and then a sender address (originator) for each service that uses the channel.
1. In the portal, choose System Administration/System Configuration/Knowledge Management/Content Management/Utilities/Channels to display a list of channels.
2. Click E-Mail Channel.
3. Select the EMAIL entry and click Edit. To display all entry fields, choose Mode -> Advanced. Enter your mail server and, in the Type field, select your mail protocol and choose OK.
4. Return to the Utilities overview and click Channel Originators to display a list of channels and originators.
5. Change the default Originator Address for each e-mail channel that is listed. To do this, select the entry and click Edit. Specify the address that is to appear as the sender on e-mails related to subscriptions and notifications.
