Business IObjects Basics

Hello Dear Experts

I'm new to BO.I'm a BI consultant and I would like to learn BO,hence my first query.

1.Is BO a physical layer sitting on top of BI?

2.What is the advantage of using BO, when we have good reporting tools in BI itself?

3.What are the various tools provided by BO and how does these replace or assist any of the tools of BI?

Sharing knowledge is the prime focus....assigning points is never a problem....

cheers!

Hello Reddy,

please find a [overview of end user manuals for all BO products|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000713358&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&] to start with. Also, [our dev community for software developer|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/].

Hi falk

I've got a lot of manuals from the link provided.but all i need is how to go about with BO, being a BI consultant....

Before proceeding with BO, i should atleast get a clear explanation on how BO is going to benefit BI?

Moreover, i would like to go as a beginner....what if i dont have a *Service Market place Login*....

cheers!

Reddy Reddy,

It sounds like you need more of a philosophical understanding rather than an admin guide to Business Objects. There are numerous resources available on the web, for instance The Data Warehouse Institute (http://www.tdwi.org/) as well as any google search on "data warehouse" or "data warehousing" or "business intelligence" will produce many results. If you would like to review hard-copy published text on the subject, I would like to share one of my favorite authors, Cindi Howson (go to to Amazon and do a search on this author). Ms Howson has a couple of good works on BI and some even feature the Business Objects software/methodology. Happy reading, and post back here with specific questions.

Thanks,

John
