Hi Gurus,
Well, if in an organization, there is only SAP for all the business applications, (for all modules) then will there be any INTERFACE? and will the terms such as EDI and IDOC will find their place in such cases? (since, IDOC is the data container via which data is transferred across the interfaces)
If the Vendor or Customer of that Organization has a different software application, other than SAP, then also it should not matter. since, the Vendor or Customer may receive their Purchase Orders or Sales Order via printout(fax) or email. (pdf format).
My question is very silly, but I need to know to clear my concepts. Please advise.
Thanks,
Kumar
hi,
hi,
The Interfaces component includes External Transportation Planning Systems and Communication via Internet. Using interfaces, the SAP System can communicate with other systems and exchange data.
Many opportunities of B2B or B2C business relationships arise:
Supply chain: Suppliers can enter data in their business partner´s system
Business partners can exchange customer data
Colaboration on joint projects/products
B2B communication does not necessarily require a Web-based application. Workflow scenarios can also take place between two systems (XML-based).

HI,
Yes you are right you do have interfaces to send the documents to the vendors or customers.
As you said there are FAX, EMAIL, PRINTOUT, EDI etc.
IDOC functionality is also available in transferring the data to vendors.
IDOC is nothing but contains message types transfers to the vendor system.
These IDOC's are transfered between interfaces through XI. In case if you want this message to be displayed in the internet browser then this XI will convert these IDOC's to HTML message from certain adapters in the XI system.
SRM will explain good about IDOC functionality
Thanks & Regards,
Kiran
