HI SAP GURUS,
I want to know why we set virtual memory i heard that if we wont set virtual memory during installation the workprocesses wont come to waitng state, why the workprocesses wont come to working state
Is there any reason behind this?
Hi,
As per your query, we use vertual memory for our work will go fast ans system performance will improve.
This is a memory and we work on this.

Anil

Hi
Virtual memory is swap space and physical RAM.
A large virtual memory enables
1. A process to be larger than physical memory
2. A process to execute even if all of the processes are not in memory
3. More processes than in memory to run concurrently
Demand Paging uses memory as a cache for disk. For each page the page table either says:
Page is in memory, and here is the frame number
Page is on disk, and here is the block number
The valid bit is used to distinguish between these two cases.
Virtual memory settings depends upon operating system in some operating system its required to set it while in others it can be set automatically at the time of boot up like for 32-bit addressable space can't be more than 1.7 gig.
While if it's required to set the virtual memory then system won't boot up.
Therefore work processes won't be in working state.
Hope its helps.
