Scaled down version of SAP for learning ?

Please forgive my ignorance, however I was wondering if anyone can tell how one can learn ABAP and perhaps how to interact with SAP using external programming languages when you don't have access to SAP. Is there a scaled down version of SAP that people can install and use for learning and development perhaps.

Desperately wanting to learnu2026.and thank you for your suggestions and solutions.

There is Mini SAp which you can install on your local PC. Works well to learn ABAP, Workflows, ALE etc etc.

Where to get ? You can order it online from SAP's website. Its price it pretty reasonable.

OR get a trial version from SDN.

Thank you all so much for such a quick response. I was amazed at the speed! I tired the link that was provided for Mini SAP, but that didn't work. Is there a working link for the download of it?

Is it true that Mini SAP does have functional modules? If you wanted the same functionality of Mini SAP and wanted some data for Functional Transactions, should I get IDES system? I understand that IDES has transaction available with sample data. If so where can I get IDES system?

You guys are awesome!!!!
