Hi

Is there a easy/automated way that we can run statistics of workbooks every 3 months and identify workbooks that are not being used.

Enable statistics for the infoproviders and you will also see the workbooks in RSDDSTAT TCode. Here set the default to calculate statisatics for all the workbooks and then using the statistics data collected you can accordingly find out these workbooks.
