Deletion Flag and Deletion Indicator

I am using CO78 to set Deletion Flag for production orders and we do not have archiving system at our client site so my question is can i set the deletion indicator ON coz i was told that if we set deletion indicator ON then the orders after residence time 1 deletion indicator is active and after residence time 2 archiving is done and finally deleted automatically.

I am trying to understand the difference and is it safe to set deletion indicator ON if we do not have archiving.

Hi,

It is perfectly OK to have Deletion Indicator for Production Orders.

One difficulty with DLT is it can not be revoked.

Yes, after Residenc Time 2 - You can archive and delete the Production orders.

But, it will not be automatic. you need to execute the Program : PPARCHA1 for Archiving and PPARCHD1 for Deletion from the System.

If you set the DLFL, it is not mandatory to set the DLT.

After Residence time 1, you can set the DLT.

I already set many orders for DLFL without setting deletion indicator thinking that everything would be automatic(misconception)

In future when our client thinks of archiving can i go ahead and just set deletion inidicator active for all the production orders that already have DLFL using CO78

Hi,

You can set Deletion indicator (DLT) and Archive and Delete from the System.

But, you need to wait till the Residence Time 2 to elapse..
