Hi

In the material master we want to maintain certain fields like:

Coils

Thickness

Width

Grade

Surface

How can the mapping be done? Can you please propose certain fields to which these fields can be mapped?

HI,

In case if price changes between them due to these characteristics then you can have this done through split valuation by defining valuation category and valuation types.

I would suggest you to Create a Charecteristic in CT04 with Class type 001 and Maintain Charecteristics Values and Assign the same Whenever you Create Material Master in Classification View.

Like our collegues said before, the best solution is create a class an the characterisitcas

First create the characteristics CT04 with the values that you want and after create a Class with class type 001 (material)

and associte your characteristics.

When you will create a new material, in the classifiction view you may add your class.

try maintaining the varient configuration

u have to maintain the chareccteristic view in the mm

so u can also maintain price accordingly

like in auto industries diffrent color cars get sold at diffrent cost

material is same but just due to the diffrence in a single property u have to maintain diffrent price

u can search for varient configuration on net

Hi

Just a thought, if you use Classification for the material, and want to create or change via data loads, the BAPI or Idoc doesn't work. You will have to extend the BAPI or IDOC to accomodate these fields.

Data loads are not straight forward, when classification used.

Hi,

Create Characteristics as following in CT04;

- Coils

- Thickness

- Width

- Grade

- Surface

Then create Material Class with Class type 001 i.e. Material Class and assign it in Material Master "Classification" view and maintain values for the above characteristics in material master.

OR if you want this only for information purpose then maintain it in Purchasing Text and then it will get copied to Purchase info record, PR and PO from this. And also you can sue this for printing in PO.

We dont want to do it through classification. Can you propose certain fields in the material master.

I am not able to use most of the fields in the Foreign trade view. What is the reason?

If you want this only for information purpose then maintain it in Purchasing Text and then it will get copied to Purchase info record, PR and PO from this. And also you can sue this for printing in PO.
