Unable to change the system status to complete

There is a transaction type which we are using in our org which is basically a service confirmation. The problem is we are unable to change the system status to complete.

Scenario: after entering all the data correctly and setting the system status to complete we save it however if you again come into the document and check it it still remains in open mode ( system status). No status profile is assigned to this transaction type.

Please suggest what could be the possible way to solve this.
