why mvt types needed

Please tell me what is the use of mvt types in sd.

I have seen so many mvt types like Normal Delivery - 601

Consignment Fillup - 631 etc.

why we need them? without them what will happen.

please tell me with an example why it so needed.

The movement type has important control functions in Inventory Management.

For example, the movement type plays an important role in

- updating of quantity fields

- updating of stock and consumption accounts

- determining which fields are displayed during entry of a document in the system

Depending on the movement type, additional updates are carried out in participating applications. All updates are based on the information contained in the material document and the financial accounting document. For example, in the case of a goods issue for a cost center, the consumption values of the items are also updated.

Movement Type is the key to Inventory management.

From SD View point, we maintain Movement Type to be triggered at Schedile Line Configuration (VOV6).

Movement Type also controls whether Accounting Document is to be created or not. For Eg: Movement Type 601 is triggered during PGI, which will have a financial impact on inventory, as the stock reduces from the stock of the company.

Hello,

When you enter a goods movement in the system, you must enter a movement type to differentiate between the various goods movements. A movement type is a three-digit identification key for a goods movement. The movement type is important because it controls the screen layout, adjustment of inventories, the GL account for financial purposes etc.

Eg: 601 Goods issue for delivery In Shipping, this movement type is created automatically with the Goods issue for delivery function. The quantity is taken from unrestricted-use stock.

631 Transfer posting unrestricted use - customer consignment stock (Shipping) The quantity is transferred from unrestricted-use stock to consignment stock at customer.

It is very important for account posting...when there is any movement in and out,it will have financial implication.
