Hello Vivek

You may have a look at [EDI/IDoc: How is an EDI project carried out?|http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:2DP7_YQLDEwJ:www.erpgenie.com/sapgenie/docs/implementing_edi.docedisubsystem&hl=en]

An EDI Subsystem (translator, converter) is required to convert the SAP format IDoc
into the message format of an EDI Standard. You must select a corresponding product.
The IDoc interface is open, so that various EDI Subsystems can be added.

SAP does not offer any EDI subsystem itself!

We use SAP-XI as EDI subsystem. SAP-XI has not (yet) the capability of doing the EDI conversion (EDI-XML <-> EDI-flat) yet we have a simple Plugin which does the job. Alternatives are full EDI subsystems like Seeburger, Sterling, etc.)

A valuable source of information is [http://www.edigenie.com/]
