Hi

What is Initialized value and for what purpose we can use it in BCS?

1. Yes You're right that it's connected with BDC but I think that the message depands on BDC type ex "Optional-Initialized value allowed" and in that case what does it mean? Initialized=empty?

2. In addition initialized value also occures durring customizing of validation - it's possible use Initialized value as characteristic value - but I don't know what it does.

1) Yes, initialized value is empty (or blank)

2) with validations the same definition applies - empty or blank value. This check to see whether or not the characteristic value is blank.

Saying it in almost any program language, init value = NULL

I've mostly seen this term in relation to breakdown categories. When the subassignment is not included in the breakdonw category for an item, but a value is provided in the source data, the system passes the message that the initialized value (blank) is used/stored.
