characters in material description

Where I can check how many characters are allowed for material description in material master ?

Hai,

You can see the length of character for material description in SE12 - Enter the table MAKT - Click the display tab. For the field MAKTX - Material description short text - SAP defined length is 40.

Go to SE11, put table name MAKT then enter.

You get the length of the field MAKTX.

Hi Balaji,

the material master description allow 40 characters.

in MM01 or MM02 you can count them or

take the field name, in se11 check for the fields info and check for data element and its length.

try OMSL here u will get length of material code

for description length go to

SE11 enter MAKTX in database table field and enter u will get the length as 40
