Hi Satyabrata

SAP MI supports mobile devices like Laptops, PDAs, Smart phones.

SAP MI is equipped with a Java virtual machine and offers an open programming model with which mobile applications can be developed.

This open system architecture makes the platform independent of both the mobile devices and the network.

But the Mobile platform should support java virtual machine.

Rakesh.

Hi Satya,

We are currently running with issues in regards to this topic. The devices (WINDOWS CE) we have selected and plan to use turned out not to be supported by SAP anymore. I recommend you speak to your SAP representative and have him inform you if your device is supported before purchasing. From our conversations with SAP I recommend you consider WINDOWS Mobile 2003 as a target OS as this is clearly being supported.

Hope this helps,

Wael

Mostly your mobile phones run on either Symbian OS or Palm OS or Windows CE OS. <i>all of them support jre</i>

hi Satyabrata,

The SAP ME Client Component is an entirely Java-based framework offering generic services to mobile applications.

It is based on JDK 1.1.8, as only this JDK is typically available on modern PDAs. Due to the downward capability of Java, it can also run on JDK 1.2 and 1.3 as well as on Personal Java and J2ME (CDC). Due to shifted security packages in JDK 1.4,

In principle, ME runs on all platforms <i>supporting Java</i>, like Win32, PocketPC, Symbian, Mobile Linux, Linux, etc. to name a few.

ME plans to support J2ME (CLDC) with the next release, but with restricted functionality due to the limited resources available on such devices.

Hope this enlightened you!

Regards,

ak.

PS: don't forget my points if this was useful.
