Logical System ??

Hi can anybody tell me about the logical systems ?

Also tell me how many logical systems we can create based on clients and what all settings do we need to do for it.

My first scenerio is this:

My Second scenerio is this:

R/3(New Version) <--- XI <----R/3 (Old version).

Please clear me on this. Its very very confusious.

Hi,

Actually Logical system w.r.t the R/3 is client independent.. so, we need to configure it as per ur requirement..

Basically to communicate with R/3 we may use either IDOC , RFC or XML to carry over the messages to XI server.. u need to pick any one mode of transmitting the data and depending on that configurations vary..

if it is an IDOC.. follow this configurations..

Steps

SAP XI

1) RFC Destination (SM59)

a) Choose create.

b) Specify the name of the RFC destination

c) Select connection type as 3 and save

d) In the technical settings tab enter the details SAP SID/URL and system number#.

e) Enter the Gateway host as same details above SID/URL.

f) Gateway service is 3300+system number#.

g) In the Logon /Security tab, enter the client user & Password details of Destination system.

h) Test the connection and remote logon.

2) Create Port (IDX1)

a) Select create new button

b) Enter the port name as SAP+SID (The starting char should be SAP)

c) Enter the destination client.

d) Enter the RFC Destination created in SAP R/3 towards other system.

e) Save

3) Load Meta Data for IDOC (IDX2)

a) Create new

b) IDOC Message Type

c) Enter port created in IDX1.

1) RFC Destination (SM59)

a) Choose create.

b) Specify the name of the RFC destination

c) Select connection type as 3 and save

d) In the technical settings tab enter the details SAP SID/URL and system number#.

e) Enter the Gateway host as same details above SID/URL.

f) Gateway service is 3300+system number#.

g) In the Logon /Security tab, enter the client user & Password details of Destination system.

h) Test the connection and remote logon.

a) First Select Transactional RFC and then click create button

b) Enter the destination port name as SAP+SID (The starting char should be SAP)

c) Enter the destination client.

d) Enter the RFC Destination created in SAP R/3 towards other system.

e) Save

3) Create Partner Profile (WE20)

a) Create New

b) Create the Partner no. name as same the logical system name of the destination system.

c) Select Partner type LS

d) Enter details for Type: US/USER, Agent, and Lang.

e) Click on the + button to select the message type.

f) Select Partner no. and LS which ever create above.

g) Select Message type

h) Select Process code related to the Message type.

I) save.

In SLD u2013 System Landscape Directory

TS for R/3 (Logical system):-Assign the client name created in R/3 as Logical system Name.

Ts for Third Party (Logical system):-

BS for SAP R/3 (Logical system):- Assign the client name created in R/3 as Logical system Name.

BS for Third Party (Logical system):-Enter the XI logical system name.

In Transaction SALE

Define and Assign the logical system name.

Simple way of ALE settings

Maintain the R/3 system.

Use transaction SALE to create two logical systems:

1. First one IDES logical system(Sender LS).

2. Second one Netweaver logical system(Receiver LS).

Assign Sender Logical System to Client

Create RFC destination of type u20183u2019 for SAP XI system using transaction SM59.

Receiver LS name and RFC destination name shd be same

Create a Distribution Model through u2018SALEu2019 transaction:

Create a Distribution Model by selecting u2018Create Model Viewu2019.

Add massage type to the Distribution Model.

Save your Model view before proceeding further.

Generate the partner profiles by selecting the navigation path from the main menu, Environment Generate Partner profile.

Upon selecting the generate partner profiles option, then execute it with the default parameters displayed on the selection screen.

From the main screen navigate through the menu option, EDIT --> MODEL VIEW --> DISTRIBUTE.

Maintain PI system.

Use transaction SM59 to create RFC destination connected to the SAP R3

Use transaction IDX1 to maintain the port u201CSAPXXXu201D.

Select u201CCreateu201D and enter Port, Client and RFC Destination.

Use transaction IDX2 to load the IDOC metadata.

Select Create New and enter Idoc type and source port.

Also tell me how many logical systems we can create based on clients?

You can create n number of logical systems for a client, but u require to assign your sender logical system to a sender client.

LS is nothing but a alias name of client

1) Define LS (using SALE trcode)

2) Assign clint to LS

3) Create RFC Destination (SM59)

Hi,

A client in R/3 has 1 logical system assigned. (tx: SCC4)

Your R/3 system can communicate with numerous LogSystems.

POS can be a Logical System in R/3

R/3(new version) can be a Logical System in R/3

XI can be a logical System in R/3

In WE20 you use the logsystems of the other systems POS and R/3 (new version)

XI doesn't have to be mentioned in WE20.

I do agree about the initial points. But the last line you wrote that XI LS should not be mentioned in the WE20, its suspectable !!! As I can see here, the configerations done.

In R/3 they have used LS for XI in WE20 ??

Hi,

It is possible to configure XI as an LogicalSystem and configure it in WE20. But all interfaces might go to XI then and the monitoring is very difficult.

In R/3 XI is "invisible". Only the RFC that is used in the port (WE21) is referring to XI.

But in the ALE layer XI is not really necessary.

When they did it use XI Logical System, you can continue with it. But I think it's better to use the Logical Systems of the other applications

i think logical system can be assigned to one client only and that is maintained through tcode sale.

correct me if i am wrong
