Ignore the above link which i have posted earlier in this thread..
What is 1-byte language and 2 byte language
Engilsh, Germany, Spanish, Italian, French etc.. are single byte languages.
each of the character will occupy 1 byte,
where Japan, korean, Taiwan, chinese, trad.chinese, arab are 2 byte languages,
each of the character will occupy 2 bytes.
In Simple, 2 english letters are equal to 1 chinese letter.

Hi,
Some language charactes requries 2 key stroke to form a character ex Chinese, Japanese. These are called as 2 byte languages where as English is single byte language.
Usually the these double byte characters are encoded in two bytes.
