So you are using Solution Manager 3.2?

Solution Manager must be installed as dual stack instance with ABAP + Java together.

If the system was not upgraded (ABAP only) from Solman 3.1 or 3.2 then you have Java installed already. It may just be deactivated in the instance profile.
SolMan 4.0 was only delivered as a combined installation, there was no special task to install the Java part.
Markus
Markus,
The system was upgraded from Solman 3.2.
Now I need to install the java instance.
I found a documentation that explain a possibility of install a Central Services Instance and Java central instance in other server, but the Java database schema on same server that abap database instance.
Is it ok?
I have a good server to put the Java Central Instance and Central Services Instance.
If I put only Java database in the same server that ABAP database, can it increase a very large resource of this server?
Thanks,
Mauricio,
if you read the upgrade guides for Solman (3.2 --> 4.0) you would have needed to install a 6.40 Java instance before and upgrade both ABAP and Java at the same time.
If you check the installation, there´s no possibility of installing the Java instance separately. Technically it may work but it´s not supported and you will have to do all kinds of configuration steps that are not documented.
Markus
Hello Markus,
Really you are correct. The central instance ABAP and Java must be in the same host. The data base instance to.
I will install all instances in other host that have a suficient sizing, but I don't want to lose the configuration of my system.
Is possible that after I have installed the new instances, make a Homougeneous system copy of ABAP part to new instances, or the DB have some differences when the ABAP + JAVA are together?
Thanks,
Hi,
Well reading all that, I propose to rename Solution Manager as Problem Generator !
For a "free" product it costs so much on administration, maintenance, upgrade and I only use it for installation keys and validating Support Packages download....
I think it's a shame we don't have the choice NOT to use Solman...
Regards,
Olivier
