system copy from R3 4.6C/windows/oracle10.2.0.2.0 to R3 4.6C/windows/oracl

Hi all,

I am doing a system copy between two systems:

source: R/3 4.6C, oracle 10.2.0.2.0, windows 2003

Target: R/3 4.6C, oracle 10,2.0.2.0, windows 2003

My steps are:

1) copy the sapdata1...N from source to target

2) export the control file from source system (alter database backup controlfile to trace) and modify it for target system

3) start the DB in target system with the new modified control file.

My question

a) Have you any better way to bring the target system run with data from the source system? (oracle and R3 are running fine on the target system. Its a new installation).

b) is it better to keep SAP<SID> kthe same as in the source system or its better to change it? Because chaniging occurs alot of work anmd problems.

Thanks in advance

Check the system copy guides at http://service.sap.com/systemcopy

If you have the same SID you won´t be able to transport between the systems. A SID need to be UNIQUE across a system landscape.
