JCONTROL not starting with startsap

Hi

Jcontrol is not starting in Our XI system AFTER STARTING THE INSTANCE USING STARTSAP.

We have to start the jcontrol from the command line using jcontrol pf=/usr/sap/../D*/SYS/profile.

This only starts dispatcher and server but not sdm

Can anyone help me with the cause and solution of this ?

Please check your instance profile - are the jcontrol/* parameters there?
