MD61 - Create Planned Intedependent Rquirements

Hi gurus

what is transaction MD61 used for? I understand that one defines the quantities for any given period but what is its purpose?

Hi,

MD61 is used for, as you mention, creating Planned Indpendant Requirements. This is used for planning purposes. Say, for example, your company plans to manufacture , 1000 quantities of Material X in Jan 2009, 2500 for Feb - 09, 3000 for Mar - 09 and so on based on certain sales forecasts. These are entered here. Once entered here, it creates demand for PP when MRP is Run. Thus Production can be carried out to meet this demenad.
