Hi all,
Can you Pl let me know the types of alerts Available.
Why SAP does not recommend Alerts
Advantantages,Disadvantages of using alerts.
Using Alerts in BPM.
CCMS ALERTS usage advantages over normal Alerts etc.

Hi,
First, define a new category in the TCODE ALRTCATDEF
add user in fixed recipient.
In the alert configuration add a new rule with parameters:

Also check whether the configured user has rights to receive the alert messages in the alert inbox. If not you will not receive the alert.

Configuration steps are: go to transaction ALRTCATDEF
1) Define Alert Category
2) Create container elements which are used for holding an error messages.
3) Recipient Determination.
Alert can be triggered in different ways.
1) Triggering by Calling a Function Module Directly.
2) Triggering by Calling a Function Module in the Workplace Plug-In.
3) Triggering with an Event Linkage.
4) Triggering with the Post Processing Framework (PPF) or Message Control (MC)
5) Triggering from a Workflow.
6) Triggering from CCMS with autoreaction.
7) Triggering from BPM.

there are two type or alert
1) alert for inrterface failure:-
this can be configured using ALRTCATDEFTCODE and defining the rule for that at RWB.you can triggred alert from message Monitoring also using UDF by calling the RFC SALERT_CREATE
2)alert for the component failure:- this type of alert is triggered for any componenet failure like" queue is struck."
this configuration is done at RZ21 and RZ20 by using method CCMS_Send_Alert_to_ALMu2019
SAP not recommend Alert because it checkes for each message flowing from Xi and use lot of WP for that.
you can trigger alert using BPM also .the advantage for using BPM is that you can send the dynamic text as a alert message.

many types of alerts are not working in sp9 it works on sp14
