Hi,

Functionality wise same but use wise it is different.

RFC call: we can pass data from legacy to R3 system through RFC/IDOC/PROXY. Depending on our requirement we can choose method, if you choose RFC we need to call function and update data.

RFC Lookup: few values are stored in SAP tables, in run time we are getting data from source after that we need to check weather the value is exit or not in tables in mapping window, based on RFC function response we will do further transaction.

I hope now u clear

RFC Lookup is nothing but an UDF written in XI and we call the RFC in side this UDF.

Let's consider an File to IDOC scenario.

So, whenever you have any specific value coming from source file (let's say legacy system is sending some data in text file) then before sending it to R/3 system to post the IDOC we use the RFC lookup which is nothing but an UDF written in XI and which calls the RFC to validate the value wether it exists in R/3 or not. And hence based on the result returned by RFC lookup we post our data into R/3.

Hi,

NO, Both are different.

RFC Call is nothing but executing Function module from remotely on the Machine

RFC Lookup is nothing but Lookup the value for particular field and access the value and pass it to the target

Hi,

In XI, you can able to make the RFC call using RFC lookup.

Logically similar identification.

Thanks.
