Hi All

I want to take full & incremental PRD backup by Scheduling .

Please help me in detail , how can i take backup step by step

Hi,

If you are using oracle database than you can take backup using brtools(online or offline). login as user <sid>adm & run brtools command at command prompt.Than you will get a menuy driven screen .

BR*Tools main menu

1 = Instance management

2 - Space management

3 - Segment management

4 - Backup and database copy

5 - Restore and recovery

6 - Check and verification

7 - Database statistics

8 - Additional functions

9 - Exit program

Standard keys: c - cont, b - back, s - stop, r - refr, h - help

select option 4(Backup & database copy)

than you get the following screen

Backup and database copy

1 = Database backup

2 - Archivelog backup

3 - Database copy

4 - Non-database backup

5 - Backup of database disk backup

6 - Verification of database backup

7 - Verification of archivelog backup

8 - Additional functions

9 - Reset program status

Standard keys: c - cont, b - back, s - stop, r - refr, h - help

select option 6(Initialization of BRBACKUP tape volumes)

than u get the following screen

Options for initialization of BRBACKUP tape volumes

1 - BRBACKUP profile (profile) ....... [initPRD.sap]

2 - Initialization type (initialize) . [rename]

3 ~ Number of volumes (number) ....... []

4 - Confirmation mode (confirm) ...... [yes]

5 - Message language (language) ...... [E]

6 ~ Tape volume names (volume) ....... [PRDB01]

7 - BRBACKUP command line (command) .. [-p initPRD.sap -i -l E -v PRDB01]

choose option 2 & put force & enter

than choose 6 give tape name which one you define in init<sid>.sap file

than press "c"

press "c" to initialize the tape

After that go back to main menu

Backup and database copy

1 = Database backup

2 - Archivelog backup

3 - Database copy

4 - Non-database backup

5 - Backup of database disk backup

6 - Verification of database backup

7 - Verification of archivelog backup

8 - Additional functions

9 - Reset program status

chose option 1

BRBACKUP main options for backup and database copy

5 - Database user/password (user) .... [/]

7 - Disk backup for backup (backup) .. [no]

8 # Delete disk backup (delete) ...... [no]

chose option 3

give the tape volume name (Ex -PRDB01)

tahn c & c&c &c backup will start

Hi,

you can schedule backup useing DB13.

Run command DB13.

Select the Date on which you schedule the backup.

ckick on create button

In Action field select the Backup Type that you want to run.

Give date and time.

Give the Tape name if you taking the backup on tape else leave blank.

Write name of the profile init<sid>.sap

Check the button BRBACKUP verify option if you want to verify the backed up files.

Againg write the profile init<sid>.sap name for archile log backup (if taking)

Select the -s option for Function field.

Check the button BRarchive verify option if you want to verify the backed up files.

Click add / Execute Immediate.

Thats all.

Hi,

Backup procedure using DB13 have described by keyur.

Keyur told you all the steps & Initilize the tape before & than execute the backup.You can initilize the tape using Brtools which i described in my pervious message.

I have taken backup on disk through DB13 successfully, but now i want to take backup on Tape Drive. when i want to initialize Tape drive via BRTOOLs,It terminated with following errors

Imran, you need to check your env settings.

Have a look at variables SAPDATA_HOME and SAPBACKUP.
