Printing a table - letter sizing

alexander_gtz

Hi,

I´m glad to see that quality of printing is much better with Flex2 Runtime.

But I still have one problem. If I print my table with 8 columns, it is printed that big, that the values of the cells are cut and displayed with "..."

It is not necessary to have such big letters. If they would be a little bit smaller everything would be fine.

Is there a way to influence the size of letters in printing???

Thanks and best regards

Alex

Hi,

does really nobody have the same problem, that values are cut when using the print functionality, because of really really oversized letters???

Thanks and best regards

Hi Govindu,

thanks for your answer. I even have the problem if i print to PDF.

I also tested different printers but every time the same problem:

The letter sizing is about "16px" or even more and therefore it can´t fit to the screen.

The columns are all there but the values are cut with "..." No printer does this itself (the ...), so i think it has to be part of the functionality.

If it would be e.g. 12px there would be no problem.

Any other ideas? Is there perhaps a config file?

Thanks

Hi,

Yes , the Font is little bigger than actual ,whta you got in RT.

And also the images are not displayed.

the Table title also not displaying.

I think you have to create a OSS message for this problem

Hi,

did you also use the option "print table"?

I´m surprised that there is not already a note, because SPS16 is already a really long time available for download. Perhaps nearly nobody uses the printing functionality...

My problem with my latest OSS messages was, that at the end it was always said "apply SPSXX" etc. even if the applied SPS was the latest i had to wait. In a production environment with more than 3000 users that do several hundreds of SRM orders every day it is not every week possible to get a downtime of several hours...

So I corrected errors myself or got very helpful answers here on SDN which turns out to be much better for me.

But I think in Visual Composer environment its not that easy as to decompile, correct an error and compile a class or jar file, at least i didn´t try it yet.

I have exactly the same problem. Printing the table gives BIG characters. Have you solved the problem?

Hi Henning,

no it is not solved.

I had no time to have a further look at it and it seems that only you and me really use the printing functionality :-).

Are you also on 7.0 SPS16?

I am on a pre-release of SP 17. I got this due to another problem that I posted to customer support. The printing problem is still with me though. Will probably send a customer message today. Will keep you posted on progress.

Hi Henning,

it would be great if you could keep me up to date.

I will also have a look at it again as soon as I´ve finished my actual project and will update this post.

Thanks

Have been busy with other more pressing problems. Did register the problem today though. Will update when SAP responds.

Reply from SAP development:

'We don't have in VC the option to change the fonts of text in a table.

Sorry for the negative answer.'

Not too uplifting, eh?

Hi Henning,

no that is really ridiculous!

Because it was not the case before FLEX 2.There only the quality of printing was bad, but the letter sizing was ok. It can´t be wanted behaviour to have such letters with absolutely no border around. (so even not every printer can print results...).

And by the way, we don´t want to change the font itself, we want to change the font-size.

And if they answer "'We don't have in VC the option to change the fonts of text in a table" then it is enough annoying that there is no config to change this, but it is definitely a program error, or if not they can generally deactivate printing option...

But I´m really shocked, that no one else complains about this.

Either no one uses the print option without BI, or only for simple one-columned queries but not for serious applications...

Really weak answer from support.

Thanks for your update

Latest answer from SAP:

- Regarding your last query i would say that there are no such plans for the development to change this feature for you. However if this is an important business requirement for you you can raise a development request as per note - 11. I regret not to have a better answer than this at this point in time.

Best if both you and I do as suggested and raise a development request here.

What about in 7.1.1? I heard about advanced print functions when I

attended TechED last week. I don't know how 'advanced' they are, but

you might know if the problem is fixed there.

Henning Strand

Let's hope they come back with positive answers.

Last reply from SAP:

Unfortunately in VC 7.0 and 7.01 it's not possible to play with the

size, it's caused by the flex movie, but may be by changing the print

layout you can get a better results.

As you asked, in VC 7.1x the list are showed as ALV, with all the

properties of this very well known tool. For ALV printing you will be

able to setup the size according your needs.

Hi Henning,

sorry for my late answer, but I was on vacation.

Ok. It seems that there is no possibilty.

So I will try to write a webservice or a webtransaction which will do the job and which is called by visual composer....<ironic on>there is nothing like coding such (standard) features for yourself<ironic off>....

If I find another solution, I will post to this thread.

many thanks for your updates

Greetings

Alex
