New HA feature(PAS, AAS)

HI all,

I want to discuss you about new HA feature from Netwever7.0.

I mean the central instance isn't included cluster group, because of this isn't SPOF nomore.

This is called PAS.

So we need install additional instance(AAS) to another node.

This is also "local " install.

But if the server running PAS were down, we restart manually restart PAS.

Is this good solution ?

What is the advantage of new HA feature?

(failover time is short is a good point but that's all)

What do you think?

Besides all the Enqueue and all the other stuff the biggest one why we did was COST. The HA softwares like HACMP/Veritas charges per CPU. So by separating Enqueue and Message server (ASCS) which uses less CPU vs. CPU required by the CI or DI servers you save $$.

I understand that for this setup you will require another server which for some implementations might be additional cost but it has benefited us where we have these big frames and are using logical partition for the HA setup.
