Server Shutdown Message

Dear Friends,

Here we are hundreds of people working on the portal server. Sometimes unexpectedly server will be shutdown by the administrator without a notice.

I want to know cant we really send a message to all the running users when we are going to shut down the server. If we can send such message what administrator has to do from his side(server level settings).

Please let me know the process.

Hi,

You can give a message to all active users using SM02 T-Code.

Run SM02 & click create select server & client & than post the message.

Dear Karan,

Sorry I think my question has not reached you properly. I am not asking about SAP server. I would like to know SAP NetWeaver-Portal server shutdown message. I hope we cant use any transactions code on Portal UI(Administration).

Kindly let me know if u have any info over this.

Hi Shija,

I guess you would need to send the message on NT / OS level due to

the server shutdown !?

NT provides a command "net send" which can be used from the

dos command prompt. Syntax is

NET SEND

{name | * | /DOMAIN[:name] | /USERS} message
