Solution Manager 7.0 Installation problem DDIC user

Former Member

Hi,

We are installing SolMan 7.0 on RHEL5. We are facing a problem on the

step 28 where it checks for the DDIC Password.

The instance seems to be up, and it opens up through the SAP logon Pad but when I put in the username (sap*/DDIC) and Password and try to login, it returns something like this >>>>>>>>>>> DB-Error - 0, screen shot for this also is attached.

Please see the attached log and the screen shot document is (available if someone needs) for the error and the log.

<b><Deleted by Moderator></b> Please see the "Rules of Engagement"

Thanks,

Hi

I had the same issue with most of my systems. I dont know if it was caused by the latest version of SM or not, but after searching the net to find the route course and not finding any solutions, I basically just eliminated the error.

So I cannot explain why it happens, but a quick fix is to use SAP* to logon to the system on client 001 and 000, change the password for DDIC to the one you specified during the installation (parameter entry section), and you should be fine.

If SAP* does not work, then you will have to heck into the system by deleting user SAP, adjust the profile parameter login/no_automatic_user_sapstar and set it to 0, then delete the user from the database, specifying the clients you want to delete from. Stop and start the system, this should enable recreation of the sap user. Logon with the sap* user and password "pass". Change the password for DDIC to the installation one, then continue the installation.

[ for oracle to delete user issue delete from <SCEMAID>.USR02 where BNAME='SAP*' and MANDT=000; ]

[ SCHEMAID is usually SAPSID or SAPSR3]

I hope it helps

Hi ,

i'm done with SAP solution manager 7.0 installation.

i had downloaded all the software components from market place and removed DNS entries while installing.

since, in the previous installation, i can see that couple of port connections to my DNS server.so, removed that entry in TCP/IP properties.

entries in host file maintained.

installation went fine.

Hello,

If during the installation phase it is giving error at DDIC user check phase, then you can stop the sapinst and start the system manually.

The problem here is you might have checked the box when it had asked for giving different password to DDIC user.

So either you stop and manually start or again start with CI removing all logs.

Mr Matt... Even i had faced the same issue during installation of R/3... So in considering my situation i had post the paragraph. As it might help in Sol installation as well... If at all you feel it is not helpfull.. being you as moderator you can always remove the post made by anyone.

Hi Syed,

Where did you get the paragraph from? A Note? An Installation Guide? Your own Notes?

Dear,

The correct command to check your kernel version is disp+work -v or -version.

Try to update it, directly into /sapmnt folder if your aren't on the lastest version.

I did 2 solman 7.0 installations on linux-sles10 and windows 2003 without problems.

.During the installation of R/3 Ent, when you are prompted to enter the DDIC password, the installation sometimes fails with below error:

"FRF-00007 Unable to open RFC connection"

Solution : You need to stop the installation and then log into SAP Server with the SAP* user password "06071992", then change the DDIC password to whatever you want.

Once you're done, restart the installation and continue to the stage where you need to install the DDIC password, enter the changed password and the installation will continue without errors.

Hi Syed,

Can you please state where you got this information? It looks suspiciously like a Note, but I cannot confirm this. Also, the question is about Solution Manager 7.0 and you replied with information about R/3 Enterprise. It may work, it may not.

Please read the "Rules of Engagement" or I will take action such as deleting your posts.

Hi Ashok,

I am already using the UC Kernel downloaded from Market place. But can you please guide me on how to check and verify the same in the system which I am currently installing.

Can this problem be an outcome of a less swap space, as the recommended is RAM *2 and currently my RHEL5 (64 Bit) server is configured with the swap almost equal to RAM. Please provide some refrences for the same if you have.

Thanks,

Vijay

Hi Vijay,

You can increase the swap sapce and check if the issue resolved.

You can check the installed kernel from o/s level by command disp+work

Hello. Usually this error comes with wrong kernel , are you have correct kernel (check unicode or not unicode), try to use ower (patch level) kernel up release (may be your kernel are low ?) , your kernel level are ? also your SWAP are ?

Sorry it my internet BUG, i'm write this message 15 min ago , but can't send for you...

Regards.

Hi Ashok,

The kernel version which came packaged with SAP software has both the things UC and NUC.

I use the unicode one out of that and I am not sure if Linux kernel is something different and will also have that UC and NUC concept.

Please confirm!

Hi Vijay,

Unicode and non-unicode concept is there for every o/s.

You can download the latest unicode kernel from Service marketplase and apply.

Dear All,

first of all i would like to thank for quick response.

comming to point, while installation.... there is scope of giving Wrong kernel.

since, SAP inst master will check the path (lable.asc) and then this will go for the next option.

it checks for the respective kernel for the respective sap inst master.

for my issue (even i'm facing same problem), i had tried with the kernel (DVD shipped by sap) and kerenl downloaded form SAP market place.

but, no use.. same problem.

and i had uninstalled SAP by sapinst master, oracle by OUI and started freshly from Oracle.

but, got tht same error.

i.e... unable to open RFC connection

" Check DDIC password failed. make sure tht the system is started and user ddic exists"

my sap system is up and running , restarted services again. but, no use.

guys, will work on this in differnet way.

mean while i'll log a call to SAP oss.

we will figure out entier picture.

Hi Vijay,

It may be a kernel problem.Could you please check whether your kernel is unocode or non-unicode.
