Since you are already a XI consultant, your implementing SAP AII with backend ERP will be an very easy transition.

SAP AII implemented without XI is also present, but for that you will need to understand SAP AII only.

Most common scenario of SAP AII as of now is SAP AII implemented with SAP Event Management.

This is available in mySAP SCM. Event Management is implemented with lot of other scenarios associated with SCM such as APO, PP, Transport Management, Warehouse Management, etc.

So you can gain a wide exposure to a host of technologies thereby enhancing your future growth oppurtunitues.

Besides, if you start it now, by the time the techmology matures you will become a master of the technology thereby helping your cause itself.

RFID is interesting compared to late and old ERP technologies. So you will also enjoy. Supporting AII will give you both tehnical and functional knowledge thereby enhancing your career.

Plus, it will let you understand architecture of SAP also...

Hello,

Rfid is a technology that has been existing since few decades but was not feasible to be adopted owing to the high costs associated with its implementation. But as of now, the Rfid community is looking forward to decreasing costs with setting up the Rfid infrastructure.

Different research projects are being undertaken by Auto Id Labs in association with big universities like MIT. Bridge project by European Union is also a big project.

Apart from supply chain, Rfid is entering pharmaceuticals, healthcare, retail, and defense. Novartis is carrying out large researches and implementations. Chep pooling has already implemented Rfid in supply chain and gaining its benefits

In Usa, Walmart and Dod Department of Defense has given mandates to apply Rfid technology.

In Barcodes, the Gs1 group, is researching on 2 Dimensional Barcodes. This is supported in the latest version of Sap AII which is not out.

So barcodes with more information to be stored possible, and Rfid with its huge benefits will go hand in hand.

Companies are still confused about it, but the decreasing costs are attracting them all slowly towards implementing the technology.

Standards are being drawn out by organisations such as EPC and Gs1.

So slowly Rfid is coming into picture with all companies wanting to implement it.

And looking at the different benefits it will provide to businesses, the cost cuttings, will lead them to huge profit margins which is demandable in today's competitive market.

RFID has a very bright future.

Hi Bhanu,

RFID is an upcoming technology which is growing rapidly.

RFID tags contain much more data about the product to which they are attached. RFID will take over barcode which is currently the market technology.

SAP's RFID solution Auto ID Infrastructure (AII) allows integration of RFID with SAP ERP.

AII is a middleware between the ERP and RFID hardware world.

There are various scenarios which can be configured in SAP using AII. e.g; Outbound Processing, Advanced Shipment Notification, Inbound Processing.....

The AII story is unending....

Let me know if you are looking for anything specific.
