Assigning WBS element to a matarial group in VA01

Its understood that when we go to VA01 we can assign a WBS element to a matarial group for item level records.

My client has a requirement that, in case, if a WBS element is already assigned to a Matarial group, upon entering that matarial group at the item level, the WBS element field should be automatically populated with that assigned WBS element.

I appreciate any insight or any suggestion about my question.

Hi,

A WBS Element is specific to a project (in Project System). So assigning it to a material, mat. grp. or customer is out of the question. WBS needs to be unique to every release order, that is its one of its attributes.

Please clarify what you are using this WBS element to actually do. If it is to populate profit center, then that can be assigned in the Material Master itself.
