Yes.. it is possible for as many materials as you want.
Once you enter in your selection parameters and a list of materials appear, you must then highlight or select all the materials you want to have changed. It's a two step process, three actually.
1) Select the actual changes you wish to make
2) Put in selection paramaters to obtain a list of relevant materials
3) Select the materials from the list and click on save. To select a material click on the far left of each line. You can use the SHIFT key and/or the CTRL key to select multiple lines in standard windows fashion. You can also choose the "Select All" from the menus or click on the select all button. Once they are selected, click the "Save" button at the top to actually perform the changes.
My guess is that you are getting your list of materials but not selecting them and using the SAVE button.
