User specific layouts

When creating layouts on some report screens in SAP, there is an option to save the layout as user specific or not. We have some users where this field is grayed out and can't be changed and others where it is available to change. We would like for all users to have this box checked by default and not be able to change it. Does anyone know where this is set at the user level?

Compare their parameter ID settings (on the parameters tab in SU01).

Is there a difference there between the users?

We checked the parameter IDs and they are exactly the same between the users who can and can't change the user specific setting.

Hiya,

check atuh object S_ALV_LAYO between the two groups of users - it controls who has the ability to maintain display variants for just themselves (03) as opposed to those who can maintain the non-user specific layouts, including default, that everyone can see (activity 23).
