Client export-import from PRD->DEV

Hi

I have a little doubt about client export-import.

I have to copy a client from PRD system to the DEV system client. Now the question is I have only 4-6 GB space available in my trans directory.

So how to perform the client export to a different directory other than the trans directory, say, in /usr/tmp directory, then I wanna perform client import in DEV.

We need to specify the SID as well while performing the client export.

So how to go about it whether I need to create a external system???

What exactly is to be done can someone please help me out??

Steps or some link to the screenshot would be great!!!

How to solve this space constraint without changing the size of trans directory??

Thanks!!

Regards

Do you have your Dev and PRD in place.

You want to do the export of PRD client. How big is the PRD client?

1.I beleive 4-6 GB space is suffcicent for client export or else you can do it in the test mode first before actual run.If your /usr/sap/trans is not suffcient extend it .

2.You have to specify the target system and client .

If you dont have your target system in landscape ,yes you have to create an external system else not required.

Hope this help you.

Thanks for your reply!

The database size is around 175 GB...

can you give some recommendations of the space that will be required in trans based on this amt of data or say 150 Gb or 200Gb.

Thanks!
