Can you check the os dependencies once again if you have missed something.

I find no reason that sapinst is not able to create a file.

apux118 /etc ulimit -a root

time(seconds) unlimited

file(blocks) unlimited

data(kbytes) 2015464

stack(kbytes) 131072

memory(kbytes) unlimited

coredump(blocks) 4194303

nofiles(descriptors) 4096

Set the data to unlimited.

Then try it.

Why not you try by creating the tsk file manually and run the sapinst.Just check if it updates the file and continue installation.

I have completed installation by root only and probably same with you.

You start sapinst by root and the installation of oracle binaries also by root and during the installation of oracle binaries ,runinstaller set the appropriate permission on ora home.

Well you apply all the patches from orasid .

Again you call sapinst from root and continue the installation.

Did you by mistake not created the DB instance by choosing createdb option in oracle installer.?I believe not.

You have to just install the binaries and patches only no creation of DB .Sapinst creates and builds the DB instance.

Hope this helps,

I manually create the task file, and it still throw that error:can not create task file

and I do not choose create db instance in oracle installation.

do you have any devices? I really expected to finish my installation.

Is your environment correctly set? are the shell ulimits for root set?

Again the request: check your shell environment, AIX can be pretty restricitve.

Apart from that I suggest you open a call at BC-INS-UNX and let the support have a look on the system if your shell limits (limit/ulimit -a) are correctly set.

It´s very difficult to debug that problem through a forum without having access to the machine.

Which release ar you installing ?

do you have you /Instdir directly under root or something like /tmp/instdir.There are issues related with this? The correct path shall be /tmp/instdir .

When you continue installation after completing the oracle installation and patches ,interim patches etc.

I believe you just cancel the installation and run sapinst again.

Check the version of sapinst ?What is the version of sapinst you have?

Hope this helps you.

I have only finished the central instance installation,

then I use ora<sid> to do the db instance installation, I get this error.

but when I use the root user to do the db instance installation,

I can do the db instance install, and in the step:database load, I get another error message:

MSC-01004,can not create task file /tmp/sapinst_instdir/ECC04SR1/WEBAS_ABAP_ORA_UC/DB/REPOSRC.TSK

the version is :SAP:NW04SR1:640-2:SAPINST:*:AIX_64

thanks a lot

The database installation must be done as root, the database software installation must be done as ora<SID>.

Are you doing the "su - ora<sid>" in the same shell prompt as you started sapinst?
