How different is OPEN TEXT from IXOS4.0?

Gurus:

We use IXOS 4.0 in our data archiving project.

We consider to move to OPENTEXT.

Could you kindly give your opinions about :

1) How different are IXOS4.0 customizing and operation from OPENTEXT?

2) Can I upgrade IXOS4.0 to OPENTEXT?

3) could you give some OPENTEXT documents?

We went from 4.5 to 9.6 without too much problem. We found moving to the new GUI a pain (seems slower, needs more memory and looks different enough to throw some users) and the Doculink portion is a bit more thorough in checking authorities so you may need to add to OAC5. But customizing projects didn't change noticeably nor the adminstration console on the server. And support calls have gone down about 75% with the new version.

Depends upon the SAP release you have.

I have really never upgraded any IXOS4.0 to LEA9.6 but installed directly LEA9.5 .I had a discussion with OpenText regarding an upgrade and they advised two steps approach .

I beleive you have to do it in two steps.Not sure just check

Hi Kelly

You can definitely move to open taxt release 9.5 from your existing Ixos 4.0 release.

It is same method but better Gui options for administration .
