How to create VARCHAR2 columns in Java Dictionary projects -NW2004S Oracle?

Hi all,

I've created a Java Dicitionary Project with two tables. Are columns of these tables have the Java built-in data type string.

After deploying the project the tables are created in the Oracle database and all columns have Oracle data type NVARCHAR2. The problem is, that the colleagues who have to read/write these tables are working with a program which was designed to work with data type VARCHAR2. If they run their program they get ORA-12704 "character set mismatch".

Is there any chance to influence JDBC / Open SQL ( or whoever this does ) to choose VARCHAR2 instead of NVARCHAR2 when deploying my archive?

Does anybody know a workaround?

Thank you very much for your attention and comments!

Kind regards, Joachim

Hi Joachim,

The Java Dictionary from SAP IDE is based upon ABAP standard dictionary, so there a pretty huge distance between JDBC and Oracle Data Types, considering this, try to format your field as a string.
