Gurus:
We pla to do BI7.0 data archiving soon.
Thru reading I find BI data archiving is different from what we did on other modules such as SD, FI, etc.
For BI, we create the archiving objects instead of using existing ones in SARA.
1) Is there any archiving object for BI provided by SAP so that we do not have to create our own?
2) what are the exact tcode and menu path to create BI archiving objects? The reading material did not detail this.
Thanks!
Hi Christy,
Yes, you are correct that BI archiving is different than ERP archiving. There are some common archiving objects such as IDOC's, BC_SBAL, etc., that you archive the same way as in ERP. But, for ODS objects and Infocubes, you need to create your own archive object by going to transaction RSA1, select your object you want to archive, right click, and do a Create Data Archiving Process. This is where you will create your BI archive object. You can then manage this via transaction SARA, or, through RSA1, there will now be a Manage ADK Archive option when you select the object and do a right click.
One thing to consider if you are not using the near-line store option or a product such as PBS CBW, the archived BI data will NOT be accessible for access until it is reloaded. That is another huge difference between BI archiving and ERP archiving.
Hope this helps.
