Upgrade and Unicode Solman 3.1 to 7.0 on iSeries

Hello Everyone,

We have to upgrade Solution Manager 3.1(Non-Unicode) to 7.0(Unicode) with Java add on. We have finalized to Non-Unicode upgrade first then perform the Unicode conversion followed by Java add on.

As ASCII database on iSeries is already Unicode, I would like to confirm whether do we need to Export DB(with Unicode conversion) and then Import back Unicode DB on Unicode Kernel as per standard Unicode conversion process or any other process do we need to follow as DB is already in Unicode format.

Any inputs/suggestions/help will be highly appreciated (with points).

Hi Shafi,

unfortunately, not all tables are unicode ... if you are having an 1100 latin-1 SolMan, you can use the easier InPlace approch - so, the export & import is easier, but all the rest is similar ...
