Hi Experts,
Please explain the advantages of upgrading to PI 7.1 from XI 3.0.
we currently have scenarios developed with File, FTP, IDoc, JMS, Mail, HTTP, Third party adapter.
And also please advice me with the below
-> Issues in upgrading from XI 3.0 to PI 7.1, If any.
-> Software and Hardware changes required
-> Time period required for the upgrade
And anything that need to be considered before going for the upgrade.
Appreciate your help with the above.
Thanks,

Hi,
PI 7.1 is based on open, web service enabled standards and Integrate all SAP and non-SAP, A2A, B2B, BPM,& service enabling.
After upgrading to PI 7.1 ( Advantages )
All objects in the Integration Repository (IR - Design) are available in the Enterprise SOA Repository (ESR) and can be used without any changes.
The Integration Directory (ID - Configuration) will not be affected at all ( Where we declare the Sender /Receiver Adapters ).
Mappings (graphical mapping, XSLT, Java mapping and ABAP mapping) will execute without any change
The Changes required for / after migrating to PI 7.1 from XI 3.0
Need to Migrate System to 64 bit OS before upgrade PI 7.1 will not support 32 bit OS
Customer Adapters and Adapter modules have to be adjusted and redeployed ( To my knowledge we are not using any Customer Adapter & Adapter Module in 1 UP Project )
Java Proxies have to be redeployed because JAVA JVM is installed during upgrade and JAVA JDK not supported at all in PI 7.1 ( To my knowledge we are not using any Customer Adapter & Adapter Module in 1 UP Project )
Advantages in PI 7.1
Process Automation Enterprise Services Repository as a central storage location for enterprise service definitions and lifecycle management data for all enterprise services
Enhanced Design Capabilities
Service Enabling & Services Registry u2013UDDI V3.0 Additional compliant services registry for runtime management of enterprise services
Web Service Standards,Web Service Reliable Messaging, Web Service Policy & Security
High Volume Support & Local processing in Adapter Engine ,Message packaging
Improved performance for ccBPM /BPM
using the Advanced Adapter Engine (AAE) in SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1, much higher numbers of messages can be reached.Even better results can be achieved for asynchronous scenarios
PI 7.1 are the services based on service interfaces. These services can be configured with the help of the SOA Manager

HI,
Refer this:
PI 7.1 upgrade considerations:
Enterprise Services Builder and Integration Builder run on top of Javau2122 2 Standard Edition 5.0 (J2SE 5.0) which includes Javau2122 Webstart. Hence need to install the java 5.0 runtime in your system
