Hi experts,
could u tell me what is the difference between value mapping and fix mapping ?
Thanks
Gopi
Hi Gopi,
we use value mapping when the value mapping data voulme is high.usally fro value mapping , a table need to maintain in source system like r/3, MDM...and using the standard value mapping replication interface provided by SAP u have to replicate the values in XI runtime cache.
the advantage is that.. only 1 centrel value mapping table will be maintaing....which u can access in any message mapping...
fix value mapping are used usualy when data volume is less..
see here for more info..http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cd/9ad4dfdb9ef04cba985a566422569c/frameset.htm

ValueMapping: Could be used for any MessageMapping (Standard function), Java Mapping (Java API), etc. ValueMapping could be filled from Java proxy. Source System could be SAP MDM.
ValueMappingReplication is standard Message interface within http://sap.com/xi/XI/System and SWCV SAP BASIS, there is also one java proxy provided from SAP, if you have SAP MDM running, you would be able to use them.
FixedMapping: exist only in one Mapping and has to be maintained manually. I don't think you would be able to maintain Fixed Mapping for big amount of data volumn.

Value Mapping: Executes at runtime. the corresponding source and target values are to be specified in ID .. configuration time
FixValues: Executes at design time as well... while testing mapping in IR test tab you can see the converted values. Source and target values are to be specified in IR... double click to function in mapping and put the values
