windows 2003 server to HP-UNIX

Dear all

we are using a ECC5(is Retail) oracle 9i with windows 2003 server.also we are using xi3. intragreted with pos(point of sale.)

This is the possible only Prodction server switch to HP-unix (oprating system)Plateform .Rest are the previous oprating system ie windows 2003 server.

Your valauble suggestion important for us .

Technically it's possible - yes.

However, keep in mind, that the endianess is different (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endianness), Windows is little endian and HP-UX is big endian. This can cause problems if you exchange binary data with non-SAP systems.

Apart from that you will need to make sure you have a common transport directory (/usr/sap/trans) with either NFS on Windows using Microsoft Services for Unix or using a CIFS client on HP-UX to access the windows share.

Our main purpuse utlization of the old server , can we move the all server to Linux plateform , that time we will utilization of the all server hardwere , please advise .

if we are select the linux , what is majer diffence between HP-Ux ...

presently we are using ECC5 oracle 9i windows 2003 with 32bit

Can we make plan ECC5 oracle 10 linux wit 64 bit ,

Yes - sure. In that case you won't need to deal with that NFS/CIFS things because Linux has NFS also

Well - it's different operating system If you're used to command lines shells you will feel comfortable soon.

yes - this is supported.

we are making aplan for the upgradation ,which are the better option

case1- ECC5(is Retail) oracle 10G with windows 2003 server. with 64 bit -all server (PRD,DEV,QTY)

case2-ECC5(is -Retail) oracle 10G with LINUX. with 64 bit
