Hi,
has anyone experience in installing the SMD agent in a MS cluster?
Any problems?
Can you give me some documentation?
Thank you
Timm
Hi,
1. You need to install separate SMD Agents for each physical host as recommended by SAP. EG:- If you have 1 CI and 2 DI, you need to have 3 SMD Agents installed one each on each physical server. (Select Local host during SMD Installation - Don't select Virtual host; recommendation from SAP)
2. There are no known implications of SMD agent on MS Cluster.
Hope this solves your problem.
Feel free to revert back.
SATISH: Please answer to the question, your guide doesn't give any hint of SMD on HA. Please read rules before posting.

Hello, I have a question regarding this installation:
If we have 2 cluster nodes, we install a SMD agent on both and an SMD agent on the Virtual node. This works fine, as long as the SMD agent is not startd on the passive node. If the passive node's SMD agent is running as well as the active node, we get SQL errors where the SMD agent tries to connect to the DB, but as the node is active, it fails on DB level.
If only the active node is running there are no SQL errors. There are also no errors from the active node.
Do you perhaps have any suggestions, as now when we cycle the nodes we have to stop the passive node SMD agent?
Regards,
John
Hello Timm,
Please go through the following links which should give you complete info about SMD Agent in Cluster environment.

Hope it helps.
