Hi All,

This is our infrastructure:

We have more than 50 Hp Printers working with SAP. Particulary the following models:

HP 3800DN PS

HP laserjet 4300

All these printers are configured exactly on the same way (SPAD Transaction):

Spool Server: XXXX (DNS local name of the server)

Device Class: Standard printer

Model: HP 4300 or HP 3800DN PS or HP laserjet 4300 or HP 3550N

Access Method

Host Spool Access Method: C: Direct operating system call

Host Pinter: XXXX

Host Name: XXXX

Output Attributes:

SAP cover page languaje: DE

Host spool cover page : Do not print host spooler cover page

We have problems with two printers, one HP 3550N and one HP laserjet 4300 n

If you try to print something from SAP, it print nothing, if you go directly to the printer it gives you all the spools requests on the Queue, you can select one spool requets and them the option: Print Directly in this case you get the following text printed on the paper:

%!PS-

%%DocumentFonts: atend

%%Creator: SAPscript, SAP R/3 rel.5.0A

%%EndComments

/SAPdict 12 dict d

This is a printer problem? Does i need to reconfigure something in SAP?

Please some tips.

Best Regards,

Erick Ilarraza

The "PS" in the printer names mean, that they have a builtin postscript interpreter. We configured them always as PCL printers --> MUCH faster!

According to http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/37011-0-0-0-121.html 3550N is not listed as supported on that page and the 4200N doesn´t have a postscript interpreter.

Try to switch the device driver to the HPLJ4000 printer driver, they work very well (and as said - faster than the postscript drivers).

Hi Markus,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I will try with this Drivers for the 3550N :

HP LaserJet P3005 4.5 & higher » ZHPP3005

HP LaserJet 4100 4.X & higher » ZHP4100

HP LaserJet 4200 4.5B & higher » ZHP4300

HP LaserJet 4240 4.5 & higher » ZHP4240

HP LaserJet 4250 4.5 & higher » ZHP4250
